Institute of Food Technology (FINS)

About

The Institute of Food Technology (FINS) was established by the Executive Council of Province of Vojvodina, Republic of Serbia, in 2007, based on the research potential and 50 years long tradition and experience of the former Yugoslav Institute for the Food. FINS is a public institution and part of the University of Novi Sad which is 2nd largest university in Serbia and has more than 50.000 students.

The institute attaches great importance to scientific international cooperation, which is carried out throughout vast number of projects per year, covering a broad range of topics (Horizon2020, FP7, COST, EUREKA, ERASMUS+, IPA, etc. FINS ensures also a consistent flow of scientific results towards industry and provides bridge between research and application in practice.

Research in animal feed technology, experimental trials with animals, and technology of animal products is primarily carried out at Research Center for Feed Technology and Animal Products. Pilot plant for feed technology, pilot plant for meat technology, and feed technology laboratory also exist as units of the center.

 

Vision

The vision of the Institute of Food Technology (FINS) is to provide knowledge at national and European level in order to contribute to welfare of animals and human, and well-being of the society. Livestock and food production are facing various challenges, such as increasing demand for animal products, search for alternative protein sources, concerns related to environmental protection, etc. FINS is devoted to facing these challenges throughout numerous activities, such as R&D, knowledge and technology transfer, education, dissemination, and international cooperation, which will contribute to sustainable production in European scope.

 

FINS in the Animal Task Force

FINS represents the Serbian scientific community in the ATF. As one of the leading research institutions within Southeast Europe, FINS provides expertise in the field of animal feed and animal products’ science and technology. FINS aims to advance knowledge in sustainable production management, exploitation of biological resources and development of new technologies and products in the “field to fork” chain. FINS is dedicated to contribute to the success of ATF.
