ECIP
About
ECIP is a collaboration of European dairy levy bodies and farmer representative organisations. Its founding members are ZuivelNL ( Netherlands), Dutch Federation of Agriculture and Horticulture (Land- en Tuinbouw Organisatie - LTO, Netherlands), Israeli Dairy Board (Israel), Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (Great Britain), Knowledge Centre for Agriculture (SEGES, Denmark), Centre National Interprofessionnel de l'Economie Laitière (CNIEL, France), Fédération Nationale des Producteurs de Lait (FNPL, France), Dairy Research Trust (Rep. Ireland), AgriSearch (Northern Ireland), Research Centre on Animal Production (Centro Ricerche Produzioni Animali – CRPA, Italy). ECIP is an informal partnership, with an independent farmer chair. Membership reflects thousands of European dairy farmers.

Vision
The ECIP mission is to improve the competitiveness and long-term sustainability of dairy farming.  A specific objective is to work more closely in the coordination of applied research, development and knowledge exchange to maximise impact, reduce duplication, add value to future research activities, thereby increasing the value of levy monies collected from dairy farmers. Partners played a central role in the H2020 Thematic Network ‘EuroDairy’.

ECIP in the Animal Task Force
In the years ahead, the dairy sector faces significant common challenges:
  • Long-term economic viability
  • The drive towards carbon neutrality
  • Intensifying consumer scrutiny of the value of animal products
    • Human health and nutrition
    • Animal Health and Welfare
    • Environmental impact and maintenance of biodiversity
  • Resilience in the supply chain
  • Professionalism and quality of life for current, and succeeding, generations of dairy farmers
ECIP membership of ATF is to help give voice to grassroot farmer research, development and knowledge exchange needs from pan-European and apolitical perspectives, and to provide additional connectivity for the ATF outputs.
