Promoting a sustainable livestock sector in Europe

Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences - Sweden

About Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, SLU
SLU is a world-class university in the fields of life and environmental sciences. SLU’s area of expertise encompasses agricultural sciences, veterinary medicine, natural resources and environment, as well as rural development and landscape architecture. In addition to basic research, SLU pursues problem-oriented research focused on the needs of its stake holders. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science is the only such faculty within the sector in Sweden. The combination of veterinary medicine and animal science makes the Faculty unique, not only in Sweden, and provides an excellent opportunity for multidisciplinary research and education. The Faculty has recently formed LEARN (Livestock Extension And Research Network), capitalising on the excellent farm animal research facilities recently established at Lövsta near Uppsala. LEARN aims at increased collaboration between the University and stakeholders within farm animal and food industry, both nationally and internationally.
