About
The main focus of BIOS Science Austria is the research and dissemination of knowledge related to our natural resources and their protection, in particular soil, water, forest, biodiversity. In addition, BIOS Science Austria promotes the protection of renewable, natural resources for the production and provision of food and feed, energy and products of the bioeconomy. BIOS Science Austria supports the cooperation of the member institutions in the thematic sub-areas, bundles resources and lays the basis for the acquisition of larger joint research projects and programs.
 
Vision
The use of renewable raw materials has to be considered on the premise of resource efficiency and the cascade principle. The central fields of action of the bioeconomy are based on the value chains and/or cycles and include raw material production, the conversion of raw materials as well as consumption and recycling with integrated cross-cutting topics.
 
BIOScience in the Animal Task Force
The association wants to promote research and teaching in the field of life sciences in Austria and the networking and cooperation of the relevant institutions as well as their achievements known to the public. "BIOS Science Austria" is an important project among institutions of the life science scene in Austria, involving the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism (BMLRT) with their subordinated institutions, namely the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), the Federal Research and Training Centre for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape (BFW), the Environment Agency Austria (UBA), the Federal Office of Water Management (BAW) and the Agricultural Research and Education Centre Raumberg-Gumpenstein, as well as the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Eco Social Forum (ÖSF) want to combine resources in the field of life sciences, coordinate topics and thus create synergies.
